Abstract

The invention discloses data transmission methods of edge MBMS (Multimedia Broadcast / Multicast Service) service and related equipment. The methods are applied to a data transmission system of the MBMSservice. The system comprises a center BM-SC (Broadcast / Multicast Service Center) located at a core network, an edge BM-SC located at a network edge and an MBMS GW (Multimedia Broadcast / Multicast Service Gateway). One of the methods comprises: creating a control surface bearer context by the center BM-SC; sending a session starting request by the center BM-SC to the edge BM-SC to enable the edgeBM-SC to create a user surface bearer context; receiving a session starting response, which is sent by the edge BM-SC, by the center BM-SC; and issuing a service key by the center BM-SC to the edge BM-SC to enable the edge BM-SC to encrypt data of the edge MBMS service by use of the service key and send the data to UE (user equipment) through the MBMS GW. According to the methods, data transmission time delay of the edge MBMS service can be reduced, and use of core network bandwidth for data transmission of the edge MBMS service is reduced.
