Benefits of technology

This technology helps researchers quickly identify potential sources of harm caused by contaminated waters or other fluids that may be affecting human health. It uses various techniques such as filtration methods to remove unwanted substances from wastewater before it reaches natural bodies like rivers. By accurately testing these filters' ability to efficiently transport liquids through them, scientists are able to better predict how well they will perform during an event without causing damage. Overall this innovative approach provides valuable insights into environmental issues related to water-borne diseases.

Problems solved by technology

This patented technical problem addressed in this patents relates to finding ways to measure how well different types of plants (such as rice) grow without causing damage due to harmful chemicals present during harvesting processes like pesticides).

Embodiment 1

[0023] 1. Collection and screening of river clams. The clams of Hongze Lake were collected with a net rake, the collected clams were screened, and adult clams with a body length of 20.00±5.00mm were selected for subsequent domestication and testing.

[0024] 2. Laboratory domestication of river clams. After the river clam is collected, it is immediately sent to the laboratory for pretreatment and domestication. It is rinsed with 0.9% salt water for 2-3 times and then placed in a glass tank with a length of 60cm, a width of 40cm, and a height of 40cm for domestication. No substrate is required, and the water used is 500-mesh gauze filtered and fully aerated tap water. The indoor temperature is controlled by an air conditioner. The water temperature is kept at 20±2°C, the pH value is 7.8±0.2, the water hardness is below 250mg / L (calculated as calcium carbonate), and the photoperiod is 12 hours: 12 hours, and continuous aeration, keep dissolved oxygen greater than 8.0mg / L; feed ...

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for testing biotoxicity of water based on filter-feeding efficiency of corbicula fluminea. The method comprises the following steps: collecting corbicula fluminea andthen transferring to a laboratory for domestication; exposing corbicula fluminea in a tested water sample; calculating the filter-feeding efficiency of corbicula fluminea, and assessing and judging the biotoxicity of water on the basis of the filter-feeding efficiency of corbicula fluminea. According to the invention, the filter-feeding efficiency of corbicula fluminea in water is taken as a biomarker for assessing the biotoxicity of water; through formula computing, the filter-feeding rate index can be determined in real time, the quantitative assessment for determining the biotoxicity of water by utilizing the change on filter-feeding rate index of corbicula fluminea can be realized and water quality can be presented within a short time, so that timeliness, sensitivity and accuracy of biological monitoring and early warning can be promoted; an early warning technical support is supplied for sudden water pollution.
