Problems solved by technology

Therefore, during operation, large physical stresses are applied to the suspension components, which may lead to deterioration of the physical characteristics of the suspension components (eg, their load-bearing capacity)
[0005] However, since elevators can often be used by people for transport along considerable heights, safety requirements must be met

Embodiment Construction

[0051] figure 1 An elevator 1 is shown in which a monitoring device 17 can be implemented according to an embodiment of the invention.

[0052] The elevator 1 comprises a car 3 and a counterweight 5 which can move vertically in a shaft 7 . The car 3 and the counterweight 5 are suspended by a suspension member device 9 . The suspension member arrangement 9 comprises a plurality of suspension members 11, which are sometimes also referred to as suspension traction media (STM). Such a suspension member 11 may be, for example, a cable, a belt or the like. Furthermore, the elevator 1 comprises further components, such as, inter alia, a monitoring device 17 for monitoring the integrity or state of deterioration of the suspension members 11 in the suspension member arrangement 9 .

Abstract

Elevator (1) comprising a suspension member arrangement (9) comprising at least a first and a second suspension member (11', 11''), each comprising electrically conductive cords (23) and a monitoringarrangement (17) for monitoring an integrity status of the suspension member arrangement (9) is proposed. The monitoring arrangement (17) comprises: an alternating voltage generator arrangement (29) for generating first and second alternating voltages phase shifted by 180 degrees; a plurality of input connectors (37) and output connectors (39), each for establishing an electrical connection to cords (23) comprised in one of the suspension members (11); a voltage analyzer arrangement (31) for analyzing a neutral point voltage resulting upon applying each one of the first and second alternatingvoltages to cords (23) of one of the first and second suspension member (11', 11''), respectively, and after transmission of the first and second alternating voltages through the cords (23), and superimposing the transmitted first and second alternating voltages. For the first suspension member (11'), a first input connector (37') and first output connector (39') establish a first circuitry in which the first alternating voltage is applied via the first input connector (37') to a first end region (45) of at least some of the cords (23) comprised in the first suspension member (11') and, aftertransmission of the alternating voltage through all cords (23) of the first suspension member (11'), is further transmitted via the first output connector (39') to the voltage analyzer arrangement (31). Same applies for the second suspension member (11''). Accordingly, each suspension member (11) forms part of a single circuitry for connecting the alternating voltage generator arrangement (29) byeither the cords of the suspension member (11) to the voltage analyzer arrangement (31). A multiplexer arrangement (33) may be implemented for enabling selectively testing each pair of two suspensionmembers (11).

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to an elevator with a monitoring device and a method for monitoring the integrity of a suspension member in a suspension member arrangement. Background technique [0002] An elevator typically includes a car and optionally a counterweight that can be displaced, for example, to different heights within an elevator shaft or hoistway, in order to transport people or goods, for example, to various floors within a building. [0003] In a common type of elevator, the car and / or the counterweight are supported by a suspension member arrangement comprising several suspension member entities. Suspension member entities typically include the suspension member, fixtures for securing the suspension member within the building, and possibly other components that may be used, for example, when monitoring the integrity of the suspension member. The suspension member may be a member that can carry a heavy load in the tension direction and that ca...
