Abstract

The invention provides a multi-outlet vehicle charge device and a control strategy. A vehicle charge station including charge cords and a controller is provided. Each of the charge cords may include an electrical connector to mate with a vehicle. The controller may be programmed to, responsive to detecting a first active one of the charge cords having a change in current draw greater than a secondactive one of the charge cords for a same time period, increase power provided to the first active one of the charge cords. The controller may be further programmed to, responsive to detecting the first active one of the charge cords having a continually active duration less than the second active one of the charge cords for another same time period, increase power provided to the first active one of the charge cords.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to a charging device and system for electrified vehicles. Background technique [0002] Current vehicle charging devices and systems lack acceptable efficiency for handling multiple electrified vehicles with different states of charge. For example, current vehicle charging devices and systems may not distribute power to the respective vehicles in a manner that optimizes the power supply of charging devices and systems in communication with multiple electrified vehicles. It may not be economically feasible to include additional charging devices and systems to better optimize charging power. Contents of the invention [0003] A vehicle charging station includes a charging cable and a controller. Each of the charging lines includes an electrical connector that mates with the vehicle. The controller is programmed to increase the current draw supplied to the charging lines in response to detecting that a first active one ...
