Embodiment Construction

[0041] Embodiments disclosed herein relate to devices and methods for monitoring and processing biological tissue with substrates implementing sensors. Embodiments disclosed herein are not limited to treating or monitoring a particular type of tissue or wound, and indeed, the sensor-implementing techniques disclosed herein are broadly applicable to any type of treatment that may benefit from a sensor-implementing substrate. Some embodiments utilize sensors and data acquisition that healthcare providers rely on to make diagnoses and make patient management decisions.

[0042] Some embodiments disclosed herein relate to the use of sensors mounted on or embedded within substrates configured for processing intact and damaged human or animal tissue. Such sensors can gather information about surrounding tissue and transmit such information to a computing device or caregiver for further processing. In some embodiments, these sensors can be attached to the skin anywhere on the body, ...

Abstract

In some embodiments, a wound monitoring and / or therapy apparatus can include a wound dressing configured to be positioned over a wound. The wound dressing can support one or more sensors. The one or more sensors can include an optical sensor array cluster, which can include an optical sensor and single light source. In some embodiments, the wound dressing can include a substantially stretchable wound contact layer that includes a wound facing side and a non-wound facing side opposite the wound facing side, the wound facing side configured to be positioned in contact with a wound. The non-woundfacing side of the wound contact layer can support a plurality of electronic components and a plurality of electronic connections that connect at least some of the plurality of the electronic components. The electronic components can include one or more sensors configured to obtain measurements of the wound or the periwound, or both.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62 / 563352, filed September 26, 2017, entitled "OPTICAL SENSING FOR SENSORENABLED WOUND THERAPY DRESSINGS AND SYSTEMS," and filed November 15, 2107, entitled "SENSOR POSITIONING FOR SENSOR ENABLED WOUNDDRESSINGS AND SYSTEMS", UK Patent Application No. 1718859.0, both of which are incorporated herein by reference in their entirety. [0003] background technical field [0004] Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to devices, systems, and methods for treating tissue through monitoring of implemented sensors in communication with various treatment areas. Background technique [0005] Almost all fields of medicine could benefit from improved information about the state of a tissue, organ or system being treated, especially if such information is collected in real-time during treatment. Many types of processing are still routinely performed without the ...
