The heavy-load / high-speed elevator traction machine comprises a base, a tractionwheel, a power drive part and a brake part, wherein the power drive part is fixedly connected to the base for driving the traction wheel to perform peripheral rotation motion around the center axis ofthe traction wheel; the brake part comprises a first brake sub part and a second brake sub part; the first brake sub part and the second brake sub part are fixedly connected to the base, and are arranged side by side in the horizontal direction; and the first brake sub part and the second brake sub part co-act on the traction wheel. While the traction wheel needs to brake, needed brake force is shared by the two brake parts, so that requirements, on brake ability of single brake part are reduced, and therefore, a small-sized design of the elevator traction machine is possible, and follow-up packaging, transporting and mounting are facilitated.
