Disclosed is a wear monitoring system for a brake device of a motor, the brake device comprising a brake disc and a brake magnet, the brake magnet being movable relative to the brake disc to switch between an engaged state and a disengaged state; wherein the wear monitoring system comprises: a fixedly arranged support; a first arm portion comprising a first free end and arranged to be coupled to the brake magnet such that the first free end is always in contact with a bottom of the brake magnet; a second arm portion arranged to be coupled to the first arm portion and comprising a second free end; and a triggering device comprising a triggering button arranged to be triggered by the second free end of the second arm portion when the brake magnet and the brake disc are in the engaged state and the amount of wear of the brake magnet reaches a first threshold value or a multiple of the first threshold value and is less than a second threshold value. Also disclosed is a motor comprising such a wear monitoring system. Also disclosed is an elevator comprising such a wear monitoring system or motor.
