Embodiment Construction

[0024] The exemplary methods, devices, and systems disclosed herein alleviate disadvantages of conventional methods, devices, and systems, as well as other previously unrecognized needs. For example, a hybrid polar modulator can use a series of polar modulators to create a vector modulator system, and the resulting polar response is decomposed into the sum of the polar modulators. This approach can rely on accurate phase modulation in two such links without requiring a high-resolution amplitude modulation (AM) section to cover the IQ plane of the QAM modulator. In one example, quadrature PSK (QPSK) modulation is implemented with a QPSK phase modulator or with a 2-PSK modulator combined with a sign modulator. In this approach, the sign and phase transitions are shaped to limit the resulting distortion and spectral regrowth, where each power amplifier (PA) operates with a constant input envelope, and the gain transitions are shaped to limit resulting distortion. In another exa...

Abstract

Examples herein disclose apparatus and systems for hybrid vector based polar modulator schemes that may use a series of polar modulators to create a system of vector modulators. The resulting polar response may be de-composed into the sum of the polar modulators. The approach allows accurate phase modulation in two such links without the need for high resolution AM part to cover the IQ plane of a QAM modulator.

Description

[0001] priority [0002] This application for patent claims priority to non-provisional application No. 16 / 141,922, filed September 25, 2018, entitled "APPARATUS AND METHODS FORHYBRID VECTOR BASED POLAR MODULATOR," which is assigned to the assignee of this application and is expressly incorporated into this application by reference. technical field [0003] The present disclosure relates generally to polar modulators, and more particularly, but not exclusively, to vector-based polar modulators. Background technique [0004] Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide various types of communication content such as voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcast, etc. These systems may be multiple-access systems capable of supporting communication with multiple users by sharing available system resources (eg, time, frequency, and space). An important modulation technique employed by these wireless systems is quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM). QAM is a ...
