Embodiment

[0090]The spunbonds in Tables 1-4 below were produced on a Reicofil 4 (R4) line with a single spunbond (S) spinneret of about 1.1 m width, 5800-6300 holes (hole (die) diameter 0.6 mm). Bonded nonwoven fabric. The Reicofil spunbond process is described in more detail in EP 1340 843 or US Patent No. 6,918,750. The total throughput is about 200 kg / hour. The quench air temperature was 20°C for all experiments. The ratio (VM / V1) of the volume flow VM of the process air of the monomer discharge unit to the process air with a volume flow V1 escaping from the first upper cooling chamber section into the second lower cooling chamber section (VM / V1) is maintained at 0.1- within the range of 0.3. The line speed was kept constant at about 205 m / min. For all examples, the filaments were deposited continuously at a target fabric basis weight of 15 g / m 2 (gsm) on the deposition net. By weighing three 12"x12" pieces of fabric and reporting in g / m 2 (gsm) to measure the fabric basis wei...

Abstract

A fiber or nonwoven and methods for making and using same are provided herein. The fiber or nonwoven contains at least one primary polypropylene, at least one polyalphaolefin, and at least one propylene-based elastomer. The propylene-based elastomer can have a heat of fusion less than about 80 J / g. The propylene-based elastomer can also include greater than 50 wt % propylene and from about 3 to about 25 wt % units derived from one or more C2 or C4-C12 alpha-olefins, based on a total weight of the propylene-based elastomer.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims priority to U.S.S.N. 62 / 768,612, filed November 16, 2018, and EP 19152351.3, filed January 17, 2019, which are incorporated herein by reference. [0003] field of invention [0004] Embodiments generally relate to polymer blends for nonwovens and methods of making and using the same. Background technique [0005] The use of propylene-based polymers and copolymers, sometimes referred to as propylene-based elastomers, for making nonwoven fabrics is well known in the art. Such fabrics have various uses, such as medical and hygiene products, clothing, filter media, and sorbent products. Nonwovens are particularly useful in hygiene products such as baby diapers, adult incontinence products and feminine hygiene products. An important aspect of these fabrics is the ability to produce fabrics with a similar "softness" to fabrics produced from natural fibers. [0006] Nonwoven fabrics often lack the de...
