However, when a fraction of the panels in the string are replaced with newer panels, the newer panels generally generate more power, ie more voltage and current, than the other older panels. However, the current flow for each string is determined by the weakest panel in the string, and therefore the robust power of the newer panels may not be maximally utilized and lost.
