Abstract

The invention provides a design method of a lightning arrester. The method comprises the following steps: extracting a preset number of resistor discs from continuously produced resistor discs; injecting preset energy into each extracted resistor disc, and damaging the resistor discs; determining the rated energy of all the resistor discs according to the energy of all the resistor discs before damage and the probability allowable value of fault occurrence; determining the number of the resistor discs required in the lightning arrester according to the rated energy of all the resistor discs; assembling the resistor discs of which the number is determined, and carrying out arc isolation treatment to form the lightning arrester. According to the method, the rated energy of the resistor discs is determined in the sampling step, the damage test step, the energy determination step and the number determination step, so the number of defective resistor discs is greatly reduced and controlled within an allowable range, the failure rate of the lightning arrester is greatly reduced, the structural design of an existing lightning arrester is optimized in the assembling step, development of electric arcs is effectively inhibited, and faults of the lightning arrester are avoided.
