Embodiment Construction

[0020] In the following description, the reference signs are used for clarification only and not for limitation. The described embodiments can also be implemented in ways other than the examples shown in the drawings. These embodiments can be applied independently of each other or in combination with each other.

[0021] Most generally, the present invention provides a processing station 10 for processing a substrate web S supplied and withdrawn at a substantially continuous speed. The processing station 10 is provided with a single embossing roller 12 (example of which is Figure 1-4 shown) or two embossing rollers 12 (for example Figure 5-7 shown). The processing station 10 is also provided with a rotatably mounted first tool barrel 14 and a second tool barrel 16 , each of which may be provided with a tool plate 18 . Furthermore, the processing station 10 is provided with a mechanism configured to periodically vary the conveying speed of the substrate web S at the conta...

Abstract

A processing station for processing a substrate web (S) supplied and led away with a substantially continuous speed, comprising an impression roller (12, 22) and two tool cylinders (14, 16). Within one revolution of the tool cylinder (14, 16), the transport speed of the substrate web (S) at a contact area between tool cylinder (14, 16) and impression roller (12, 22) can periodically vary relative to the rotation speed of the tool cylinder (14, 16). Of the two tool cylinders (14, 16), at any time only one is in an operative state in that it is in engagement with an impression roller (12, 22). The other tool cylinder is in a non-operative state in which it can be made accessible for thereon exchanging a tool plate (18).

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a processing station for processing a substrate web which is supplied to and withdrawn from the processing station at a substantially continuous speed. Background technique [0002] Such a treatment station is described, for example, in US 2005 / 0098052, which is considered the closest prior art. A known processing station for processing a substrate web supplied and withdrawn at a substantially continuous speed comprises an embossing roller and a rotatably mounted tool drum to which a first tool plate can be fixed. In use, the tool cartridge with the substrate web inserted at the contact area engages the embossing roller to perform a processing operation on the substrate web. Within one revolution of the tool drum, the conveying speed of the substrate web at the contact zone may be varied periodically relative to the rotational speed of the tool drum. It is thus possible to fasten a tool plate on the tool barrel, the length of...
