Problems solved by technology

[0016] But this POC device requires quite a lot of blood (about 0.1mL)
Therefore, the problems of collecting such blood samples are exactly the same as those of collecting venous blood, and such collection usually requires the intervention of medical professionals (not to mention that it is very difficult to inject the collected blood samples into disposables)
[0017] However, even with the use of such a POC device for the determination of the concentration of liver enzymes in the subject's blood, the serology measurement and the hardness measurement would still be separated from each other, and the results of the procedure would therefore still be subject to the above-mentioned variations and fluctuations

Embodiment Construction

[0148] Figure 1A , 2 and 3 respectively depict first, second and third embodiments of the system 1; 1'; 1" for determining parameters related to the liver health status of a subject;

[0149] In each of these embodiments, the system 1; 1'; 1" comprises:

[0150] an elastography device 2; 2'; 2" configured to measure at least one mechanical parameter related to shear wave propagation in the liver, such as liver stiffness, and

[0151] The blood test reader 3 and the blood test disposable 10 associated with the blood test reader 3 are used to determine the concentration of at least one liver enzyme in a blood sample collected from a subject to be checked.

[0152] The system 1; 1'; 1" also comprises a control and processing system 4; 4'; 4" for when inspecting objects (e.g. according to Figure 11 or the inspection process depicted in 15) controls the elastography device 2; 2'; 2" and the blood test reader 3.

Abstract

A system (1) and method for determining a parameter related to a health condition of the liver of a subject, the system including an elastography device (2), a blood-test reader (3) and an associated blood-test disposable (10), the disposable including a capillary tube for collecting a capillary blood sample from the subject and including reagents appropriate to detect at least one liver enzyme in the blood sample, the blood-test reader being operatively connected to the elastography device, and a control and processing system (4), configured to control the elastography device and the blood test reader and to determine the parameter related to the health condition of the liver of the subject, taking into account both a value of at least one mechanical parameter measured by the elastography device and a value of the concentration of the at least one liver enzyme.

Description

technical field [0001] The disclosed technology relates to a system and method for determining parameters related to the health of a subject's liver, particularly based on liver stiffness measurements and liver enzyme concentrations in the subject's blood. Background technique [0002] Liver stiffness measured by vibration-controlled transient elastography has been shown to be an effective tool in the diagnosis of chronic liver diseases such as fibrosis. For example, the article "Transient elastography: a new noninvasive method for assessment of hepatic fibrosis (transient elastography: a new noninvasive method for assessment of hepatic fibrosis: a transient elastography: a A new non-invasive method to assess liver fibrosis)" showed that liver stiffness is closely related to liver fibrosis. But liver stiffness is also affected by other factors, such as inflammation and congestion. [0003] Interestingly, liver inflammation can be assessed by measuring the concentration of ...
