Abstract

The invention relates to a method for determining phase currents of an inverter (1), in which an input DC voltage applied to a DC voltage bus (3) of the inverter (1) is repeatedly modulated by means of pulse width modulation by means of the inverter (1) in order to generate a multi-phase current (I2) comprising at least three phases with respective phase currents. During a modulation period of the pulse width modulation, at least two phase current values are measured by a current measuring device (7) of the inverter, and the at least three phase currents are determined from the at least two phase current values by a control unit. According to the invention, a respective replacement phase current value is determined by the control unit (9) on the basis of the phase current of at least one preceding modulation cycle by means of a predetermined mathematical model, and the respective replacement phase current value is assigned to the respective phase current when the measurement of at least two of the phase current values of the modulation cycle is determined to be incorrect.
