Embodiment Construction

[0065] The present invention will pass the following Figure 1-11 to illustrate.

[0066] figure 1 Batch reactor A (1) is shown with a closed tubular housing (2) with an inner wall (3), a gas inlet (4) and a gas outlet, and a tubular gas permeable biomass containment structure (6) (5), the air-permeable biomass containing structure (6) is positioned inside the housing (2) to define a biomass containing space (7). The tubular air-permeable containment structure (6) has air-permeable ends at its two ends (12, 13). The gas inlet (4) is fluidly connected to one upstream end (12) of the gas permeable containment structure (6) and the gas outlet (5) is fluidly connected to the downstream end (13) of the gas permeable containment structure (6). This results in the use of gas that will flow through the biomass holding space (7) in an axial gas flow. Gas at the downstream end (13) can exit at the upper end of the tubular housing (2). In this figure, an embodiment is shown in which...

Abstract

The present invention relates to an arrangement comprising more than one bake batch reactor. The configured torrefaction batch reactor comprises a closed enclosure (2) having a gas inlet (4), a gas outlet (5), and a gas permeable biomass containment structure (6) positioned within the enclosure (2) defining a biomass containment space (7). The gas inlet (4) and the gas outlet (5) of the baking batch reactor are alternately fluidly connected to the following gas circuits: (i) an air drying gas circuit (20), (ii) a baking gas circuit (25) and (iii) a cooling gas circuit (26). One or more batch reactors of the configuration are fluidly connected to the air drying gas circuit (20) and one or more other batch reactors are fluidly connected to the torrefaction gas circuit (25).

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a roasting reactor and a roasting process. Background technique [0002] Torrefaction is a well-known process in which biomass is heated to 1,000 lb. high temperature. Torrefaction thus increases the calorific value per unit mass of biomass and also removes a large amount of water, especially so-called bound water, from the biomass. Another advantage of torrefaction is that the properties of the torrefied product are relatively consistent, even when starting from biomass of different origin. The next advantage is that the baked product can be easily ground into a powder which can then be made into pellets or used as such. Torrefaction thus converts biomass into high energy density products that can be easily transported and used as feed or fuel in different downstream processes. [0003] In view of these advantages, many baking processes have been developed. A large number of these processes are continuous processes in whi...
