Abstract

The present disclosure provides a system and method for quantifying battery usage. Methods and systems for estimating battery usage of a traction battery of a vehicle are described. The traction battery usage estimate may be based on or as a function of distance per gallon gasoline equivalent, such that a vehicle operator may be more familiar with the usage estimate. In addition, the traction battery usage estimation may also be based on a traction battery current and a traction battery voltage.
