Problems solved by technology

[0006] However, conventional analog asymmetry correcting devices have limited processing speed and capacity when correcting the asymmetry of digital signals in accordance with the increase in recording density of optical discs.
[0007] Furthermore, in the case of a DVD-RAM whose reproduced signal has discontinuous intervals, the conventional asymmetry device does not change the time constant of the integrator when a different amount of asymmetry corresponds to each interval
Also, when there is a short interval such as the header interval, it is difficult for conventional asymmetry correction devices to change the time constant in time

Embodiment Construction

[0023] Preferred embodiments of the present invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[0024] image 3 It is a block diagram of an apparatus for correcting the asymmetry of a reproduced signal according to the first embodiment of the present invention.

[0025] exist image 3 Among them, an analog / digital converter (ADC) 30 receives a signal (reproduced signal) read from an optical disc (not shown), and digitizes it to output a digital signal. The adder 31 adds the digital conversion signal output from the ADC 30 to a predetermined feedback asymmetry correction value. The adder 31 outputs the addition result as an asymmetry-corrected signal to a signal detector (not shown). The sign bit of the asymmetry-corrected signal output from the adder 31 is input to the counter 32 .

[0026] The counter 32 counts the input sign bits. That is, the counter 32 increases the count value when the input sign bit is a positive (+) value, and decreases t...

Abstract

An apparatus for correcting asymmetry existing in a reproduced signal corrects the asymmetry by signalprocessing the reproduced signal from an optical disk in digital form. The asymmetry correction apparatus changes the threshold values for counting the sign bits of the reproduced signal and the asymmetry correction values although discontinuous intervals exist on the optical disc, thereby providing an effect of easily varying an adaptive speed with respect to the discontinuous signal.

Description

field of invention [0001] The present invention relates to a device for correcting the asymmetry present in a signal reproduced from an optical disc, and in particular to a device for correcting the asymmetry in the reproduced signal by means of signal processing in digital form. Background technique [0002] Digital data recorded on an optical disc actually exists in the form of pits. Since it is difficult to form the dimples ideally, there is a possibility that each dimple increases or decreases in the axial direction. This phenomenon is called asymmetry. Asymmetry is due to various reasons, such as manufacturing process or pickup performance, and is an unavoidable factor in disc processing. The asymmetry manifests itself as an asymmetric component in the reproduced signal, resulting in a reduction in the accuracy of the optical disc system. [0003] figure 1 Indicates a reproduced signal sampled from an optical disc by an optical disc system. exist figure 1 , it can...
