[0042] The principle of shielding the magnetic field lines 11 , 12 of the bar magnet 10 by the metal wire 1 is shown in FIGS. 1 a and 1 b. The bar magnet 10 is a cylindrical permanent magnet which is magnetized such that the magnetic poles are located at both ends of the bar magnet 10, respectively. The magnetic field initially extends in all radial directions, with the field lines 11 , 12 running essentially parallel to the orientation of the bar magnet 10 . In the region where the flux lines 12 reach the ferromagnetic wire 1 , the flux lines 12 run within the wire 1 , and the magnetic field is shielded on the other side of the coil of the wire 1 . A reed relay 20 provided there is therefore not responsive. The reed relay 20 is a switch comprising two closely adjacent wires 21 which attract each other when a magnetic field is present and thus close a current loop. Of course, Hall probes can also be used as sensors for the magnetic field.
