Problems solved by technology

[0004] However, in the case where the error of each ink droplet of different sizes and types formed by the same print head is different, the method of compensating for the error of the ink ejection amount for each print head cannot be performed for each ink drop of different types. Compensation for very fine ink volume errors

Abstract

According to the present invention, for at least one specific type of ink drop from among a plurality of types of ink drops of different quantities of ink, dot data can be generated in such a way as to compensate for error of ink amount for each specific type of ink drop with reference to information representing error of ink amount for given specific type of ink drops. By means of this, even if there is deviation in error of ink amount for each of different types of ink drops, color can be reproduced more accurately.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a technique of printing an image on a printing medium by ejecting ink. Background technique [0002] In recent years, as output devices for computers, color printers of the type that eject multi-color inks from a print head have become popular, and are widely used to print images processed by computers in multi-color and multi-gradation. In such a printer, in order to achieve high quality, it is required to accurately reproduce the gradation of various colors. [0003] In order to accurately reproduce the gradation of each color, it is required to accurately control the ejection amount of ink per unit area. In response to such a request, as described in Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. 11-99672 published by the present applicant, it is proposed to compensate for the error in the amount of ink ejected due to the manufacturing variation of the print head for each print head. [0004] However, in the case where...
