As noted above, the novel assembly 133 can be fitted into prior art disc brakes 10 . The assembly 133 includes a brake pad 131 including a tailgate 134 to which the friction material 122 is fastened. The tailgate 134 includes a pair of curved surfaces in the shape of struts 140 circumferentially spaced from each other on its radially outer edge 135 . The tailgate 134 also includes a pair of protrusions in the form of radially outwardly extending lugs 150 projecting from the radially outer edge 135 of the tailgate 134 and positioned between the struts 140 .
