Embodiment Construction

[0033] According to an embodiment of the present invention, a time division duplex (TDD) repeater for a wireless communication system may be implemented as an extended coverage area. The repeater may for example be implemented in a wireless local area network (WLAN) system, such as the systems disclosed in IEEE 802.11 and HIPERLAN / 1 and 2. The preferred embodiment repeater does not require the system to allocate any additional frequencies for its use. Furthermore, the repeater of the preferred embodiment implements a single switching amplifier to transmit in both uplink and downlink directions, which increases uplink and downlink isolation and minimizes unwanted feedback and oscillation tendencies. In addition, the single amplifier design also results in less costly implementation in conventional techniques.

[0034] The repeaters are also implemented to facilitate installation with a minimum of expertise. It may also operate in an automatic and independent manner, eliminati...

Abstract

The invention discloses a kind of time division multiplexing duplex relay system, which includes two antennas, switches orientation amplifier and control circuit. The antenna serves in the first and the second coverage area, the second coverage area is the expansion of the first coverage area. The switching orientation amplifier is coupled between the two antennas, and it has single amplifier. The control circuit is coupled to the input end of switching orientation amplifier and the antennas. The control circuit receives the transmission from the coverage area, and the control signal is used in the switching orientation amplifier in order to control the transmitting direction. The control circuit can control the gain and the direction of the amplifier based on the input signal power.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to a wireless communication system, and more particularly to a Time Division Duplex (TDD) wireless relay system. Background technique [0002] A wireless communication system has base stations or access points from which radio signals are transmitted and propagated. These signals are then received by mobile stations, remote stations, subscriber stations, etc. (herein referred to as stations) to allow communication to continue. A station may be, for example, a computer with a wireless modem, such as a laptop equipped with a wireless local area network (WLAN) card (herein referred to as a wireless notebook), a mobile phone or a wireless personal digital assistant. A radio signal can only travel a certain distance without being effectively received until the power level of the radio signal drops below a certain threshold. The area around a network access point within which signals can be received is called a cover...
