Preferred apparatus and methods of the present invention provide methods and apparatus for controlling intermodulation in circuits that filter over-the-air signals by creating asymmetric resonators. "Asymmetrical" means that the inductive elements of the resonator are asymmetrical in size to each other. By making the first, or first and second, inductive elements of the resonator larger, the current density is reduced. More specifically, larger inductive elements with larger edge areas reduce current density because large amounts of current are carried close to the edges of the inductive path in the high frequency environment in which the present invention can be used. Thus, by creating an asymmetric resonator, intermodulation from out-of-band signals is reduced while keeping the filter size relatively unchanged.
