1497 results about "Over the Air" patented technology

Over the Air was an annual mobile technology-focused overnight hack day event held in London from 2008 to 2016. The two-day event would include practical and educational talks and a hacking competition. Sponsors of the event have included the BBC, Bluevia, Nokia, PayPal, and Vodafone. Some of the ideas developed at Over the Air have been turned into commercial services.

MULTI-TRANSCEIVER ARCHITECTURE FOR ADVANCED Tx ANTENNA MONITORING AND CALIBRATION IN MIMO AND SMART ANTENNA COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS

Exemplary embodiments of system and method are provided for measuring signal amplitude, phase and/or delay offsets between multiple transmit signals fed through the transmit signal processing chains and wirelessly transmitted over the transceive antennas of separate transceiver modules, wherein transmit signal coupling between the transmit antennas of said transceiver modules' transmit signal processing chains may be used for synchronizing the transmit signals and calibrating their amplitude, phase and/or delay parameters. The exemplary embodiments further provide a front end arrangement of a wireless transceiver device which can comprise at least two independently controllable transceiver modules, each connected to an associated spatial diversity transceive antenna and comprising at least one associated transmit signal processing chain and at least one associated receive signal processing chain coupled to a common baseband processing unit. The exemplary transceiver architecture can be executed on an antenna loop between the transmit signal processing chain of a first transceiver module and the transmit signal processing chain of a second transceiver over the air interface and relies on an adaptive antenna concept which facilitates a wireless transmission of data via a plurality of wireless communication channels utilizing an array of transceive antennas, receiving feedback information via at least one of said communication channels using such antenna loop and modifying a transmission mode based on the received feedback information.

Method and apparatus for over-the-air activation of neighborhood cordless-type services

A method for providing a local cordless-type service comprises the steps of receiving subscriber neighborhood zone selection input so that a mobile telephone equipped subscriber may place or receive calls for a fixed rate, for example, per month without having to pay radio frequency air time charges any time they are located within their selected subscribed-to zones. If the subscribed-to zones are adjacent to one another and the mobile subscriber roams from one zone to another, the subscriber may continue their free call uninterrupted and without paying air time charges. However, when the subscriber roams outside their subscribed-to zones they may be switched from the present local cordless-type services to conventional personal communications services and pay air time charges. However for an active call, no air-time charges are incurred as the user transitions between the cellular/DPCS environment and the local cordless service environment. Associated apparatus comprises an IBS for automatically changing radio frequency channels as the subscriber roams within a subscribed-to neighborhood zone, roams to another subscribed-to zone or roams outside a subscribed-to zone. Subscribers may choose to use their mobile identification number, their current directory telephone number for wired public switched telephone service or obtain a new directory number. Subscribers can actuate their service over-the-air automatically without service personnel assistance from their home neighborhood zone.

Cellular simultaneous voice and data including digital simultaneous voice and data (DSVD) interwork

A system and method of simultaneously conducting a data transfer and a voice call between a mobile station and a radio telecommunications network having a mobile switching center (MSC) which serves the mobile station. A first embodiment includes a landline digital simultaneous voice and data (DSVD) modem associated with the mobile station which generates DSVD source signal and line negotiation protocols. The DSVD source signal and line negotiation protocols are encapsulated into circuit mode Radio Link Protocol (RLP) signals and transmitted to the MSC. An interworking function (IWF) associated with the MSC translates the circuit mode RLP signals into signals in a landline telecommunications protocol. In another embodiment, the voice call is carried over the air interface from the mobile station to the network in one timeslot, and the data transfer is carried in at least one additional timeslot on the same voice channel. In other embodiments, two voice channels may be allocated to the same mobile station. The voice call to a first party is carried from the mobile station to the network on one voice channel, and the data transfer to the first or a second party is carried on the second voice channel. The MSC hands off the two voice channels together, but releases them individually when either the voice call or the data transfer is completed.
