Abstract

A wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) and methods are used in a wireless communication system to process sampled received signals to establish and/or maintain wireless communications. A selectively controllable coherent accumulation unit produces power delay profiles. A selectively controllable post processing unit passes threshold qualified magnitude approximation values and PDP positions to a device such as a rake receiver to determine receive signal paths.

Description

Invention field [0001] The present invention relates to the method and composition of wireless communication equipment, and in particular to the method and composition of enabling and maintaining wireless communication. Background technique [0002] Wireless communication systems are known in the technical field. In order to provide global connectivity of wireless systems, the department develops and implements standards. It is known that one of the widely used standards is the Global Mobile Telecommunications System (GSM). This is regarded as the second-generation mobile wireless system standard (2G) and follows its revised version (2.5G). GPRS and EDGE are 2.5G technologies that provide fairly high data services on the (2G) global mobile telecommunication system network. Each of these technologies improves the previous standards with additional features and enhancements. In January 1998, the European Telecommunications Standards Agency-Special Operations Group (ETSI SMG) agreed...
