[0032] In Fig. 1, a microwave filter 1 is shown. The filter 1 comprises six coaxial discrete resonators 2 coupled together in a two-dimensional array. Each resonator 2 comprises a hollow housing 3 which is open at the top and constituted by a rectangular bottom wall 4 and side walls 5 extending upward from the bottom wall 4 . The side wall 5 includes four connected wall members 5a, 5b, 5c and 5d provided at the four sides of the rectangular bottom wall 4 so as to surround the bottom wall 4 at the sides. The housing 3 is integrally formed into a monolithic structure. In the completed filter, a cover plate (not shown) is fixed to the upper end of the side wall 5 to close the open top of the housing 3 of the resonator 2 .
