Embodiment Construction

[0022] Since elements of the present invention match those shown in the '600 application, their reference numerals are retained. 1 shows side, top and cross-sectional views of a first exemplary improved elastic osteosynthetic clip 100 according to the present invention and cross-sectional views along the lines A-A, B-B and C-C. The clip 100 includes at least two engaging legs 105a and 105b, and a connecting bridge 110 connecting the connecting legs 105a, 105b to each other, thereby forming a single clip 100 . Engagement legs 105a, 105b extend generally parallel to each other and include respective circular insertion tips 135a, 135b for insertion into bone tissue, and respective overlapping tips 140a, 140b connected to bridge 110. A taper can be made in the engaging legs 105a, 105b by linearly reducing the cross-sectional area along the distance between the overlapping tops 140a, 140b to the corresponding insertion tops 135a, 135b. As shown in Figures 1-4, the taper is represe...

Abstract

An osteosynthesis clip for the cicatrization of bone fragments, an improved insertion tool and method for inserting the improved clip and a surgical system implementing the improved clip and insertion tool are provided. The clip includes at least two engagement legs extending approximately parallelly to one another and including insertion tops; and a connecting bridge coupled to the at least two engagement legs at portions opposite the insertion portions, the connecting bridge including at least two elongated sections extending along side one another, the elongated sections extending along a non-linear trajectory to form a non-linear deformable region, such as a depression or a dome, wherein the engagement legs having respective helical screw surfaces extending substantially an entire distance between respective insertion and opposite portions to facilitate removal of the clip after the bone tissue fragments have fused. The improved clip may be made of any biocompatible material, including shape memory alloys, such as Nitinol. The insertion tool is improved to apply force at the bridging tips of either a stepped on a non stepped clip.

Description

[0001] Related application materials [0001] This application is a continuation of the application published in the 2005 / 0049600 (hereinafter referred to as "Application No. 600"), filed on August 5, 2003, and published on March 3, 2005, entitled "Bone A composite clip and an insertion tool for inserting a bone composite clip into a fragment of bone tissue" has priority, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference. technical field [0002] The present invention relates to an improved osteosynthetic clip having improved structural properties; and an improved device and method for inserting and removing the osteosynthetic clip into fragments of bone tissue and, in addition, to inserting the osteosynthetic clip into An improved insertion tool in bone tissue fragments. Background technique [0003] There are various known parts (e.g., castings and internal parts such as screws, plates, clips, etc.) that heal bone parts and / or fragments by holding them tog...
