Service notification on a low bluetooth layer

A method is provided to minimize the protocol stacks needed for a short range wireless access point to rapidly communicate a message to a short range wireless mobile device and display it to the user. The short range wireless access point device stores an Access Point Service Indicator (APSI) message characterizing the service platform offerings. The APSI message has a unique message ID in its header. The user device's transport protocol layer is modified to detect the unique message ID and load it into an APSI message buffer. The transport protocol layer passes the APSI message directly to the application layer, bypassing the middleware protocol layers. The method can be applied to communications between various types of wireless devices to enable rapid communication, such as between two mobile devices, between fixed and mobile devices, between short range devices or between long range devices.

Method for selection of an available transmission channel by sending a negative decision value and an additional positive decision value and corresponding base station, mobile terminal and mobile radio network

A transmission channel, for the transmission of messages from a mobile terminal to a base station, is selected after a terminal sends a send authorization request signal, for a particular transmission channel, to the base station and the base station sends a reply signal with a first decision value. The terminal is thus signaled whether the terminal is authorized to send a message on the requested transmission channel. On sending a first negative decision value, the base station sends a second positive decision value with the reply signal, when the terminal is authorized to send a message on another transmission channel. On detection of a first negative decision value, the terminal analyzes the reply signal further for whether a second positive decision value is contained therein and which other transmission channels are available and hence sends the message on one of the available transmission channels.

Video system with de-motion-blur processing

A video system that performs TV signal decoding, deinterlacing, and de-motion-blurring for progressive scan flat panel display is introduced. The system embeds a frame buffer and a scaler for conducting format and resolution conversions for display panels of different sizes. The output of the scaler is sent to a de-motion-blur processor for reducing the blurriness due to the motion of image objects and the slow response time of flat panel display devices. The de-motion-blur processor gets the motion and noise indication signal from scaler or the pre-frame-buffer video processor. Based on the motion and noise information and the information of temporal difference, the de-motion-blur processor performs over driving for the display panel interface and improves the rising and falling response time of the flat panel display. The decoding, deinterlacing, and de-motion-blur processing share the same frame buffer controller so the entire system can be optimized in cost and performance.

There is described image-processing methods and image processing apparatus, which enable sharpness, scaling coefficients, and image quality to be adjusted with minimum image noise and minimum image quality deterioration and at high processing speed. One of the image-processing methods for creating processed image data by applying a spatial-filtering processing to source image data, comprises the steps of: setting a predetermined upper-limit value for a variation amount of the source image data, before performing an image-conversion processing through which the source image data are converted to the processed image data by applying the spatial-filtering processing; and performing the image-conversion processing for the source image data within a range of the variation amount limited by the predetermined upper-limit value. In the above, a plurality of spatial-filtering processing(s), characteristics of which are different each other, are performed either simultaneously in parallel or sequentially one by one in the image-conversion processing.

Method for adaptively modifying the observed collective behavior of individual sensor nodes based on broadcasting of parameters

A method for continually controlling the collective behavior of a set of computing devices in a distributed data processing system. A gateway node disseminates a specification request comprising a set of parameters to a set of computing devices. The gateway node may be unaware of the number and identity of individual computing devices. Each computing node receiving the request determines whether its attributes satisfy the predicates expressed in the specification request. If so, the node processes the parameters in the specification request and modifies its own behavior based on the values in the parameters of the specification request. Subsequently, the gateway node may also observe the quality of information (QoI) values communicated from the set of computing devices. The gateway node iteratively modifies the parameters disseminated in subsequent specification requests based on a divergence between a computed quality of information value and a desired quality of information value.

Method and apparatus for verifying the contents of a global configuration file

A method and apparatus are provided for determining the validity of a global configuration file. In order to verify the global configuration file, the configuration file is first “flattened.” To flatten the configuration file, the rules in the first block of the configuration file are identified. A settings file is then created with the rules set as true. The normal configuration process is then performed on the configuration file. The resulting settings file constitute the flattened settings for the block and are associated with the block. A determination is then made as to whether any conflicting settings, inconsistently set related settings, or syntax errors exist within the flattened settings. If any such settings do exist, an error message is generated. This process is then repeated for each block in the configuration file so that flattened settings are created for each block. A testing block may also be utilized to identify problems with the settings file generate by the testing block. Reverse queries may also be performed on the settings file. Changes in the flattened configuration files caused by changes in the global configuration file can also be identified. The flattened files may also be used to simplify the server computer configuration process.

Adaptive detector for multiple-data-path systems

An adaptive, reduced-complexity soft-output maximum-likelihood detector that is operable to process data by adaptively selecting a processing scheme based on a determination of signal quality. The signal quality is derived as a function of the noise, the modulation format, the channel (the communication environment), the transmit signal power and the receive signal power. If the signal quality is low, the signal is processed using a maximum likelihood detector. If, however, the signal quality is high, a simpler sub-optimal detector is used. By estimating the signal quality and choosing an appropriate detection method, the present invention ensures accurate detection of incoming data signals in a MIMO communication system while maintaining the highest possible processing speed.

Object measuring apparatus, object measuring method, and program product

The present invention provides an object measuring apparatus capable of performing high-speed process and accurately counting the number of a plurality of objects even in the case where the plurality of objects pass a boundary line simultaneously. The object measuring apparatus extracts motion vectors at a plurality of times in each of a plurality of positions on a boundary line on the basis of a plurality of images. The object measuring apparatus obtains at least one integral value by integrating components perpendicular to the boundary line of the motion vectors. As the at least one integral value, for example, an integral value derived by integrating the perpendicular components of one of positive and negative signs is obtained.
