[0016] The present invention overcomes many of the problems caused by conventional accumulators by providing a fail-safe electrohydraulic actuator having a plurality of accumulators integral with the actuator to provide fail-safe functionality. The integrity of the accumulator results in a fully tested and proven, backup fail-safe actuator. Diaphragm and nitrogen-filled conventional accumulators are replaced by spring-loaded piston accumulators. Due to the use of multiple accumulators built into the actuator, any accumulator may cease to function properly while the others will sufficiently shock the actuator / valve to its failsafe state.
