Abstract

It is aimed to confirm confirming the presence or absence of a characteristic peak provided by a blood concentration means (for example, a drainage pump) and surely and accurately detect blood recirculation by decreasing a parameter for determining the ratio of recirculated blood. Namely, a blood purification apparatus which comprises a blood circuit (1) consisting of an arterial side blood circuit (1a) and a vein side blood circuit (1b), a blood pump (3), a dialyzer (2), a drainage pump (8) capable of quickly removing water within a short time to thereby provide a peak characteristic to a change in blood concentration and a means of detecting the characteristic peak, and in which blood returned from the vein side blood circuit (1b) into a patient flows again due to the introduction by the artery side blood circuit (1a) based on the characteristic peak detected by the detection means and the thus recirculated blood can be detected, wherein the detection means consists of a first detection means (5a) located in the artery side blood circuit (1a) and a second detection means (5b) located in the vein side blood circuit (1b).
