A transcutaneous access device includes a sleeve having a flexible extensible main body with opposite ends defining collars. A catheter is loosely received in the main body and extends through the collar. Connectors permanently connect each collar to the catheter and an annular flexible skirt snugly surrounds the main body. The skirt is adjustable along the sleeve and/or the sleeve is bifurcated to accommodate two catheters for optimum fluid flow.

A spinal stabilization system may be formed in a patient. In some embodiments, a minimally invasive procedure may be used to form a spinal stabilization system in a patient. Bone fastener assemblies may be coupled to vertebrae. Each bone fastener assembly may include a bone fastener and a collar. Extenders may be coupled to the collar to allow for formation of the spinal stabilization system through a small skin incision. The extenders may allow for alignment of the collars to facilitate insertion of an elongated member in the collars. An elongated member may be positioned in the collars and a closure member may be used to secure the elongated member to the collars. A needle protection device for a vial has a collar at the base of which a number of finger grippers extend. The collar is placed about the hub of a vial and pushed therealong until the gripper fingers snap over the bottom surface of the needle hub so as to fixedly couple the collar to the needle hub of the vial. Flexibly extending from the collar is a housing that is pivotable to a position in alignment along the longitudinal axis of the vial for enveloping the needle, to thereby prevent the needle from being exposed to the environment. An improved cervical collar comprised of an elongated neck encircling band, a chin support brace, a sternum and shoulder brace and an adjustment system secured to the sternum and shoulder brace and the elongated neck encircling band for adjusting the height of the sternum and shoulder brace in relation to the elongated neck encircling band. The adjustment system is designed to lock the sternum and shoulder brace in position preventing further extension of the sternum and shoulder brace in relation to the elongated neck encircling band as well as preventing retrograde movement of the sternum and shoulder brace in relation to the neck encircling band. The collar also comprises a positive alignment tracking system for maintaining the sternum and shoulder brace in parallel alignment with the elongated neck encircling band as the height of the sternum and shoulder brace is adjusted. In an alternative embodiment the sternum and shoulder brace is an integral part of the elongated neck encircling band and the chin support brace is secured to a chin support height adjustment piece which is slidably secured to the elongated neck encircling band such that the height of the elongated neck encircling band and the sternum and shoulder brace are adjustable together and independent from the chin support height adjustment piece.

The present invention provides a cervical collar with a rack and pinion adjustment mechanism. The rack moves a chin support member, which raises and lowers a chin piece. Independently, the present invention provides methods and mechanisms in which the chin support can angulate independently of the collar body. Such angulation is preferably accomplish by pivotally supporting the chin piece on the racks, or on the left and right chin support pieces. The present invention provides an infant teething gel applicator for the application of anesthetic gel, having a teething portion to administer a regulated and minimal dosage of medication, and a collar to fit inside a standard baby bottle. The collar extends radially in a first plane and the teething portion extends laterally from the collar and is aligned longitudinally in a direction generally orthogonal to the collar. The teething portion has an outer engaging surface with a plurality of protrusions extending outward therefrom. Each individual protrusion contains a single minute pore configured to harbor medication, which is dispersed upon an infant chewing the device.

The device is comprised of a head harness, a forehead strap, a chin strap, a crown strap and a lateral stabilization strap. The head harness has a skid plate, located on the side of the head harness that rests on a spine board, that is adapted for low friction engagement with the spine board. A patient in a cervical collar is placed on a spine board, the head harness is positioned beneath the patient's head and attached to the spine board. The forehead strap, chin strap, and crown strap are attached to the head harness. The lateral stabilization strap is then attached to the head harness and the attaching straps.

A wearable blanket for covering the legs and torso of an infant includes a sheath of generally planar textile material configured to envelope the infant in a bag-like manner. The sheath defines a head opening including a zipper portion extending from substantially a foot end of the sheath to a head end of the sheath and at the head end of the sheath, the head opening is bordered by a collar configured to encircle a neck of the infant.
