The present invention provides a linear lighting apparatus with improved heat dissipation and a method for improving the heat dissipation in a linear lighting apparatus. The apparatus includes a plurality of light emitting diodes, a plurality of primary optical assemblies and an apparatus housing. The primary optical assemblies are each in contact with one of the plurality of light emitting diodes. The primary optical assemblies and a second optical assembly are configured to refract the light so as to create a linear light source emanating from the apparatus. The apparatus housing is configured to dissipate thermal energy from the light emitting diodes.

Wearable light device for providing additional light for activities in low light includes a wearable mount (20) including a light system (30) and power source (40). An improved worklight case for carrying and storing a worklight such as a quartz halogen worklight having a protective grill protruding from the worklight face. A spotlight system is adaptable for use with preferably one or more power sources so as to provide lighting where needed. The spotlight system preferably includes a spotlight assembly comprising a lamp housing which includes at least one bulb, a switch, and an enclosure. An LED lighting array is disclosed wherein a plurality of light emitting devices disposed in at least first and second columns are mounted on a planar mounting surface to form an emission plane. In one aspect of the invention the LED lighting array includes at least first, second and third columns of LEDs. In another aspect of the invention an LED task light includes a transparent tube and an LED lighting array disposed within the tube. An electrical drive circuit associated with the mounting substrate within the tube provides pulsed direct current for driving the LED's.

A light emitting diode (LED) work light and associated method of controlling the LED work light. The LED work light includes a power source, a casing including a handle section, at least one LED mounted to illuminate light from the casing, at least one lens forward of the LEDs to focus light from the LEDs, a control switch designated to at least turn on and turn off the LEDs, and a controller. The controller may be configured to, in response to activation of the control switch, provide control of the power source to the LEDs to transition from a first illumination state to a second illumination state of the illumination of the LEDs, the transition being illumination defined by a specified function over time defined to slow a transition time of the transition.

A portable worklight providing a high level of substantially omni-directional illumination. Briefly, the worklight includes an elongate lamp section including one or more lamp sockets for receiving one or more small fluorescent lamps such as compact fluorescent lamps of the screw-in variety. The lamp section includes a substantially transparent shield about the lamps and is structured and arranged to provide illumination substantially in a full circle about the lamp section. The lamp section is retractable into an elongate base section that is shaped and structured to receive the lamp section snugly in its interior. In the retracted configuration the worklight forms a compact unit for carrying, transporting and storing the worklight. The worklight may also include legs that may be retracted along the base section and deployed for supporting the worklight during use.
