An adsorbent is provided by performing freezing treatment after covering an adsorbent body such as activated charcoal with a gel-like substance such as bivalent metallic salts of high molecular polycarboxylic acid, bean curd, jelly, konnyaku, agar, perilla, gelidium jelly and chitosan oxalate gel, or removing a frost damage preventive substance such as glycerol after covering the adsorbent body with the above gel-like substance which contains the frost damage preventive substance. The adsorbent is made to contact directly with food and the like or dosed directly to a digestive system, whereby it is possible to highly efficiently adsorb and remove food additives, fodder additives, pesticides, substances causing sitotoxism, allergen, heavy metals or highly toxic organic compounds and the like which adhere to or are contained in food and the like or which are existent in a digestive system, surplus nutrients existent in a digestive system, oligomer and additives contained in liquors, intermediate metabolic substances of alcohol generated in a digestive system after taking of spirits, harmful substances such as hydroperoxide of unsaturated fatty acid in fats and oils, and odor ingredient such as fish odor.
