Problems solved by technology

This causes the inconvenience that the end of the tire lever (f) will come into contact with the noise absorber (b) (as shown by the dotted line in Fig. 22), thereby damaging the noise absorber (b) or making the noise absorber (b) Separation from tire (d)
[0005] On the other hand, since the noise absorber (b) made of sponge has high water absorption, there arises a disadvantage that the sponge may be wetted by rain or the like during tire storage or tire and rim assembly.
If the tire and rim are assembled in a state where water has been absorbed, there will be a problem that the absorbed water adversely affects the weight balance to cause the tire to vibrate, or the water penetrates into the tire rubber to cause internal damage.
Thus, in the case of tire and rim assembly, sufficient water removal is required, but the already wet sponge is difficult to dry immediately, which makes its operation very troublesome

Embodiment A

[0141] Using the noise absorber of the first embodiment with the parameters shown in Table 1, not only the assembly of the pneumatic tire (235 / 45ZR17) and the rim (17×7.5JJ) was trial-manufactured, but also the noise performance and the noise performance when the tire was removed Noise reducer damage. Pneumatic tires are vulcanized molded without applying a mold release agent to the inner surface of the tire. The bladder used to mold the inner surface of the tire has no vent grooves on the surface. Thus, the inner surface of the tire is polished to a smooth flat surface and has good adhesion to the noise absorber.

[0142] The noise absorber is made of an ether-based polyurethane sponge (manufactured by Marusuzu K.K., product number E16) with a specific gravity of 0.016, and its total length is 185 cm and as figure 2 It is shown that there are tapered portions cut at an angle of 45 degrees at both circumferential ends of the tire. In this embodiment, the overall volume (V)...

Embodiment B

[0154] Using the noise absorber of the second embodiment with the parameters shown in Table 2, not only a pneumatic tire and rim assembly was trial-manufactured, but also a test similar to that in Example A was carried out. Parameters such as the cross-sectional shape of the noise absorber are shown in Table 2 and Figures 20(A) to 20(F) middle. The manufacturing cost for the noise reducer is represented by an index of 100 relative to Comparative Example B2, wherein the smaller the value, the better.

[0155] It should be noted that the manufacturing method of the noise reducer in Comparative Examples B2 and B3 is the same method as that used for the manufacturing method of the noise reducer in Comparative Examples A2 and A3.

[0156]

[0157] A brief description of the test results is given below.

Embodiment A1 to A6

[0162]

[0163] The noise damper exhibits excellent noise immunity and at the same time inhibits damage when changing tires. Also, the noise reducer is suitable for mass production and can suppress the generation of waste materials so that the production cost can be reduced.

Abstract

An assembly of a pneumatic tire and a rim includes a band-like noise damper, having the bottom surface fixed to a tire inner surface or a rim inner surface and the upper surface facing a tire inner space in the tire inner space, and extending in the tire circumferential direction. The noise damper is made of a sponge having a volume in the range of from 0.4 to 20% of the entire volume of the tire inner space. In a tire meridian section, the noise damper is of a laterally long, flat sectional shape having a maximum thickness value from the bottom surface to the upper surface in the range of from 5 to 45 mm and having a width of the bottom surface more than the maximum thickness value. The upper surface extends along a wavy curve that is repetition of a wavy element in the width direction including a hill top portion having the maximum thickness value, valley bottom portions on each side of the hill top portion having the minimum thickness value and slope portions extending down to the respective valley bottom portions from the hill top portion. Each end in the width direction of the upper surface is terminated at the valley bottom portions or the slope portions, but a thickness from the upper surface to the bottom surface is in the range of from 1.0 to 15.0 mm.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an assembly of a pneumatic tire and a rim, which has a belt-shaped noise absorber made of sponge body located in the inner space of the tire, and also relates to the noise absorber used in the assembly. Background technique [0002] One of the known tire noises is road noise generated in the frequency range of about 50 to about 400 Hz, and resonant vibration of air (cavity resonance) generated in the tire interior space is the main factor. In order to reduce this road noise, the applicant has proposed a tire assembly (c) having a band-shaped noise damper made of sponge and extending in the circumferential direction in the inner space (a) of the tire (b) (such as shown in FIG. 22); and a rim (see, for example, JP-A No. 2003-252003). The noise absorber (b) converts the vibration energy of the air in the tire inner space (a) into heat energy, so that cavity resonance in the tire inner space (a) can be effectively suppress...
