Problems solved by technology

[0006] However, over time, the surface of the drum becomes contaminated and can degrade the membrane quality
If the membrane quality degrades, the membrane preparation process must be stopped to clean the drum, prolonging the preparation time and reducing productivity
This can also occur on endless belts, although the surface of the endless belt is no worse than the drum

[0113] A film 26 is produced from the cellulose acylate solution 16 prepared based on the above conditions 1-6 by the film production apparatus 10 . The casting die 21 is shaped like a clothes hanger. The cooling drum 22 had a mirror-finished surface with a surface roughness Rs of 0.04 μm. The surface temperature of the cooling drum 22 was maintained at -20° C. by supplying the cooling medium from the cooling medium supply device 23 to the cooling drum 22 . The cellulose acylate solution 16 from the casting die 21 is flow-cast onto the cooling drum 22, while the first to third gases 28, 31 and 32. The cast film 24 is then dried by the third gas 32 blown from the third blowing device 30 while being continuously peeled from the cooling drum 22 by the peeling roll 25 , thereby obtaining a wet film 26 . The wet fi...

Abstract

A casting film (24) is formed by casting a cellulose acylate solution (16) onto a cold drum (22) continuously running. The cellulose acylate solution (16) contains at most 0.01% of a compound which is extracted to a liquid incompatible with the water in a mixture of the water and the liquid. That is, at most 50mg of the compound is contained in 100 g of cellulose acylate. In the cellulose acylate solution (16), a concentration C1 of Ca is at most 100ppm, a proportion of the C1 to a concentration C2 of sulfuric acid satisfies the following formula: 0.5<=C1 / C2<= 1.5, and a concentration of Mg is in the range of 5 ppm to 50 ppm. Thereby, contamination of the surface of the cold drum (22) is prevented.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a method for producing a cellulose acylate film for optical applications in devices such as liquid crystal displays and the like. Background technique [0002] Cellulose acylate films are commonly used as protective films in polarizing filters of liquid crystal displays (LCDs) because of high birefringence and retardation values. LCDs with cellulose acylate films can be thin, and are supplied to the market at low prices. [0003] Cellulose acylate films are well known to be produced by a melt extrusion method using a heat-melted polymer, or a solution casting method using a dope containing additives, particles, a solvent and a polymer such as cellulose acylate. The solution casting method is generally used because it can produce films with excellent optical properties and flatness. [0004] Solution casting methods are used to prepare polymer films, and include casting methods and drying methods. In the casting metho...
