Embodiment Construction

[0031] FIG. 1 shows a soil conditioning device 100 having a series of bow-shaped peripheral ridge elements 104 connected by sub-ridge elements 110 circumscribing a wheel or disc 102 . Each of the plurality of ridge elements 104 has a bow-shaped front surface 106 and a bow-shaped rear surface 108 . The space between each front surface 106 and rear surface 108 is a sub-ridge element 110 . This embodiment of the soil conditioning device may also be a wheel element 102 with a centrally continuous outer peripheral ridge of varying height around the circumference of the wheel element 102 . The perimeter ridge is formed by a bow-shaped perimeter ridge element 104 having a bow-shaped front surface 106 and a bow-shaped rear surface 108 . Ridge elements 104 are joined or interspersed by sub-ridge elements 110 and have a rounded top surface and side walls 114 and 116 that slope toward wheel element 102 .

Abstract

The present invention provides a soil conditioning device having a series of peripheral ridge members having a leading and trailing prow shaped surface circumscribing a disc, wheel or drum and a method of use. Optionally the prow shaped peripheral ridge members are joined by sub-ridge members forming a single ridge of varying heights circumscribing the disc, wheel or drum.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This International Patent Application claims priority to the now-pending US Patent Application Serial No. 11 / 176,569, filed July 7,2005. technical field [0003] The present invention relates to soil protection and, more particularly, to devices for conditioning ground soil to increase permeability. Background technique [0004] Traditional farming includes tasks such as plowing, building embankments, harrowing, sowing, fertilizing and harvesting. During this tillage process, the soil is often left in a loose state where the soil has been evaporated and eroded. There is an increasing need to accomplish these farming tasks by protecting the soil by reducing erosion and conserving water by increasing the infiltration capacity of the soil. In addition, there is a desire to multi-task these operations, enabling multiple tasks to be completed in a single pass through the land thereby improving the efficiency and reducing ...
