Abstract

The invention provides an automatic gain control (AGC) device and a control method thereof. When interference exists, the ability of AGC of locking the energy of effective signals is improved, so as to improve the efficiency of a receiver of a communication system. The AGC device comprises a variable gain circuit used for adjusting the energy level of a received signal. The AGC device further comprises a gain adjusting circuit and a target value adjusting circuit; wherein, the gain adjusting circuit can adjust the gain of the variable gain circuit according to the adjusted received signal and a target value; and the target value adjusting circuit can dynamically adjust the target value according to the intensity of the adjusted received signal.
