Embodiment Construction

[0014] In certain embodiments, ultrasound imaging methods and systems are provided. The imaging method of the present technology can promote the reduction of heat in a region of interest (ROI) being imaged. The method includes identifying a plurality of locations in the region of interest and delivering the pulse sequence to two or more of the plurality of locations in a determined order. Multiple locations can be selected manually or by employing an automatic algorithm. ROI consists of a series of vectors (sector) and beams (beam). "Vector" as used herein means the pushing and tracking position used to make the ARFI image. In ultrasound imaging, ROIs are typically interrogated repeatedly by firing the same set of vectors multiple times and displaying the results as a series of images over time. The position of the vector usually remains constant from frame to frame. A "frame" as used herein denotes a collection of vectors fired at similar times, which constitutes a ROI. ...

Abstract

An ultrasound imaging method is provided. The method includes identifying a plurality of locations within a region of interest, delivering a pulse sequence to two or more of the plurality of locations in a determined order, wherein the pulse sequence comprises a pushing pulse, and a tracking pulse, and applying a motion correction sequence to each of the plurality of locations where the pulse sequence is delivered.

Description

technical field [0001] Embodiments of the present invention relate to ultrasound imaging, and more particularly to acoustic radiation force impulse (ARFI) imaging. Background technique [0002] Tissue hardening has been shown to be a hallmark of disease. For example, some cancerous tissue is harder than regular surrounding tissue. Treatment of certain conditions, such as resection, also produces areas of harder tissue. Acoustic radiation force pulse imaging refers to the method of using a long and high intensity sound pulse to push the tissue and then track the displacement of the tissue. The ARFI imaging method provides information related to the stiffening of the tissue. [0003] The high intensity long pulses used in ARFI can cause thermal problems in the imaging system as well as in the object being imaged. Heat generated during ARFI can generally be divided into transducer heat and tissue heat. [0004] A portion of the electrical energy used to excite the crystal / ...
