The cold compression necking process is characterized in that a mould for the necking process comprises an outer mould and a core mould, wherein the inner wall of the outer mould is in an abnormal round tube shape and comprises a straight tube section and a flared cambered surface tube section; the core mould isin a circular truncated cone shape; and horizontal support plates are equidistantly arranged on the edge of the upper circumferential surface of the core mould according to the circumference. The necking process comprises the following steps of: placing the core mould in the outer mould; supporting the horizontal support plate on the edge of the outer mould; fixing the outer mould with an oil cylinder of a hydraulic machine; placing a metal round tube below the mould; starting the hydraulic machine to downwards press the outer mould; extruding the metal round tube by the outer mould to ensurethe metal round tube to start reducing and necking; and when the length of the straight section achieves the design requirement, stopping downward press by the hydraulic machine and then withdrawing the mould. In the invention, a cold compression forming technology is applied.
