Abstract

A technique utilizes the acquisition of data from desired subterranean regions via a logging system. The logging system is constructed for use in a wellbore and comprises a transmitter module having a transmitter antenna. Additionally, the logging system utilizes a receiver module spaced from the transmitter module and having a receiver antenna. The transmitter antenna and the receiver antenna are oriented to enable sensitivity in desired directions, such as ahead of the logging system.

Description

Background technique [0001] In various well-related operations, well logging is performed to obtain information about the subsurface environment in which the borehole is formed. Well logging tools are deployed downhole within the borehole with various sensors to obtain data that helps to understand and use the well. In some applications, logging-while-drilling techniques are used to obtain data while drilling a wellbore. However, existing logging systems may be limited in their ability to obtain information from some areas of the subsurface environment (eg, the area in front of or in front of the logging system). Contents of the invention [0002] In summary, the present invention provides a system and method for acquiring data from a desired subsurface region through a logging system. A logging system is configured for use in a borehole and uses a transmitter module with a transmitter antenna. Additionally, the logging system includes a receiver module having a receiver ...
