Abstract

The invention discloses a user-oriented dynamic storage resource distribution method. The method can dynamically increase a storage pool, and meanwhile can supply a storage space with size as a user required to a client. The method comprises that: (1) a storage resource agent sends physical volume set information to a storage resource manager; (2) the storage resource manager updates an information link list of the storage resource agent, and periodically detects the heartbeat of the storage resource agent; (3) a client agent sends physical volume application information or physical volume release information to a storage resource server according to the demand of the user; and (4) the storage resource manager receives the information of the client agent: a, if the information is the physical volume application information, the storage resource manager automatically distributes a physical volume to the client agent, and the client agent automatically establishes ISCSI connection to the distributed physical volume to acquire storage resources; and b, if the information is the physical volume release information, the storage resource manager reclaims the physical volume. The method has the advantages that the storage resource manager can automatically distribute or reclaim the storage resources for the client agent as the user required, and intervention of an administrator is not needed.
