The invention discloses a method for loading set top box (STB) business software modules for an internet protocol television (IPTV), comprising the following steps: revising and loading an expansion script of a detection module at a server end, wherein the expansion scrip comprises a module loading sequence of the STB business software modules of the IPTV; compiling an electronic program guide (EPG) page which is associated with the expansion scrip and used for displaying image-text information; accessing the EPG page by the STB through a built-in browser; calling the expansion script in the EPG page; loading each module in sequence and detecting the loading state of the loaded modules in accordance with the module loading sequence in the expansion script; and presenting the loading stateto a user in the form of the EPG page by the built-in browser. The method provided by the invention is utilized to flexibly and dynamically realizing the loading and the scheduling display for the STB business software modules of the IPTV; and in addition, the STB of the IPTV is not required to carry out software upgrading.
