The pretreatment liquid for cold transfer digital ink-jet printing contains pseudo plastic rheological etherified starch, an alkaline agent, urea and water. In the rotary screen sizing process, a fabric to be printed is treated by the pretreatment liquid and then closely bonded with a digital ink-jet transfer printing medium, and jet-printing patterns are transferred from the medium to the fabric by use of a transfer printing machine. The pretreatment liquid can effectively prevent transfer of dyes to the inside of the fabric to increase the surface dye-uptake rate of the fabric.
