Problems solved by technology

However, at this time, if the BMC also accesses the temperature sensor (as a slave device) through the I2C bus as a master device at the same time, that is, both the BMC and the BIOS access the corresponding temperature sensor through the same I2C bus as a master device. In this way, the BMC and BIOS may conflict when reading data, causing the BIOS to fail to initialize the memory, resulting in the system failing to start, which may reduce the stability of the entire server

Embodiment Construction

[0010] Please refer to figure 1 , the preferred embodiment of the computer boot detection system of the present invention includes a memory 40 , a BIOS 50 and a BMC 60 . The memory 40 includes a temperature sensor 400 for detecting the temperature of the memory 40 and an SPD 402 for storing configuration information of the memory 40 .

[0011] According to the working principle of the BMC, the BMC 60 is connected to the temperature sensor 400 on the memory 40 through an I2C bus 5 , and a KCS (Keyboard Controller Style, keyboard controller type) interface 600 is also provided in the BMC 60 . When an external device accesses the BMC 60 , the command sent by the external device needs to access the BMC 60 through the KCS interface 600 , that is, the command sent by the external device needs to support the KCS protocol. Of course, in other embodiments, because the BMC 60 also supports the SMIC (Server Management Interface Chip) protocol, the BT (Block Transfer) protocol and the SS...

Abstract

A computer starting detection system comprises a memory, a baseboard management controller and a basic input / output system, wherein the memory comprises a temperature sensor for detecting the memory temperature and a serial presence detect (SPD) for storing the memory allocation information, the basic input / output system is connected with the baseboard management controller through a low pin count (LPC) bus, and the baseboard management controller is connected with the SPD and the temperature sensor through an inter-integrated circuit (I2C) bus; the output of the basic input / output system encapsulates a command for supporting an LPC protocol and accessing a baseboard management controller protocol and transmitting the encapsulated command to the baseboard management controller through the LPC bus; and the baseboard management controller receives and encapsulates the command, so that the command can be transmitted to the SPD through the I2C bus to obtain the memory allocation information. By utilizing the computer starting detection system, the computer stability can be improved.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a computer startup detection system. Background technique [0002] Existing computers need to detect memory configuration information through a Basic Input / Output System (BIOS) before starting the memory before initializing the memory. The existing memory has a SPD (Serial Presence Detect, serial presence detection) and a temperature sensor. The SPD saves the configuration information of the memory, such as voltage, number of row addresses / column addresses, bit width and various operation timings. etc., the BIOS and the BMC (Baseboard Management Controller, baseboard management controller) are respectively connected to the SPD and the temperature sensor through the same I2C bus. When the computer is turned on, the BIOS reads the configuration information stored in the SPD (as a slave device) through the I2C bus as a master device to initialize the memory. However, at this time, if the BMC also accesses the temperature sensor ...
