Abstract

A load management system provides an interface between a power input and a plurality of switched and non-switched power outputs. The controller groups the switched power outputs into one or more load groups based on the determined switch current limit for the system and the measured current of the electrical load. The load groups are defined such that the sum of the currents of the electrical loads in each load group does not exceed the switch current limit. The controller also activates one or more switches to apply power to the load bank according to the power sequence. A method of distributing power to electrical loads using a load bank is also provided.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application No. 61 / 360,277, filed June 30, 2010, and U.S. Provisional Application No. 61 / 383,224, filed September 15, 2010, both of which are hereby incorporated by reference The entire content of is incorporated herein. technical field [0003] Embodiments of the present invention relate generally to management of electrical loads, and more particularly to load management of electrical devices requiring more power than can be obtained from a utility power source. Background technique [0004] There are many examples where multiple electrical loads are connected to and powered by a single common power supply. The common power supply can be designed to provide sufficient power to all electrical loads to ensure that each load is adequately powered. [0005] In some cases, however, it may be desirable to power some electrical loads from a power source that supplies...
