The method comprises the following steps: detecting CPU (Central Processing Unit) kernel parameters of a computer and detecting the state of display equipment connected with the computer on the basis of the CPU kernel parameters; judging whether the display equipment comprises a projector or not according to the state of the display equipment; creating a graphical user interface containing a plurality of projection mode options; defaulting the current projection mode as a previously-set projection mode of the system, wherein each projection mode option corresponds to one group of display setting parameters; and calling a multi-display output command XRandR and adjusting parameters in the command according to the display setting parameters corresponding to the projection mode option selected by a user on the graphical user interface so as to realize automatic switch of the projection modes. Therefore, the user can freely select from four projection modes.
