The invention discloses a method for realizing the switch of projection modes under a Linux tabletop operation system. The method comprises the following steps: detecting CPU (Central Processing Unit) kernel parameters of a computer and detecting the state of display equipment connected with the computer on the basis of the CPU kernel parameters; judging whether the display equipment comprises a projector or not according to the state of the display equipment; creating a graphical user interface containing a plurality of projection mode options; defaulting the current projection mode as a previously-set projection mode of the system, wherein each projection mode option corresponds to one group of display setting parameters; and calling a multi-display output command XRandR and adjusting parameters in the command according to the display setting parameters corresponding to the projection mode option selected by a user on the graphical user interface so as to realize automatic switch of the projection modes. Therefore, the user can freely select from four projection modes. The result is fed back to the user by simplified graph, so that the operation is greatly simplified and the usability of the tabletop operation system is improved.
