Abstract

The invention provides an automatic calibration method for an optical power meter. A programmable computer serving as a core control unit is connected with an automatic calibration unit. The automatic calibration unit is composed of a light source input module, a light source changing-over module, a wavelength changing-over module, an optical attenuator module and a real-time online beam splitting sampling module all of which are connected in sequence, wherein the optical attenuator module can automatically adjust gains. The real-time online beam splitting sampling module comprises an optical branching device and a built-in optical power meter, one path of an output end of the optical branching device is connected with a calibration light interface, and the other path of the output end of the optical branching device is connected with the built-in optical power meter. The control unit adjusts a light source mode, the wavelength and light output power under the program control, and the output light power is enabled to reach a preset parameter. The control unit reads a value of the built-in optical power meter and transmits the value to an external optical power meter to be calibrated. The automatic calibration of the optical power meter is achieved by manners that the optical branching device and built-in optical power meter are introduced and functional modules are integrally connected.
