Embodiment Construction

[0015] In the following specific embodiments, a module is a combination of hardware / software instruction sets that can perform specific functions.

[0016] see figure 1 , is the overall structure of the disk array (RAID) of the present invention, and this structure also includes the power management system 1 of the individual hard disk of the present invention. First, the disk array system includes a RAID control card 11, a JBOD (combined into a single non-array type disk) control card 13, backplane module (backplane module) 15, multiple hard disks (1-16 or -24). Usually, the JBOD control card 13 includes an expander IC 131 . The commercial expander 131 generally has 24 ports, and one port is composed of four signal pins.

[0017] In this embodiment, the RAID control card 11 is a Supertrak Ex6Gb / s card produced by Qiaoding Company. In this embodiment, the JBOD control card 13 is a VessJBOD1840 hard disk expansion manufactured by Qiaoding Company. The JBOD control card 13 is...

Abstract

The invention discloses a power source management system of signal hard disks in a raid. The power source management system is managed according to an instruction sent by an administrator. The power source management system comprises an expander and a backplane module. The expander outputs an SGPIO signal, the SGPIO signal is provided with a frequency signal (S_clk), a data output signal (S_data_out) and a data valid control signal (S_load). The data output signal is totally provided with M serial output signals for use, wherein (M-N) signals are used for controlling corresponding LEDs in each single hard disk to be opened or closed. The backplane module is respectively connected with the expander and the hard disks (1-16), wherein the backplane module is provided with a PLD. The PLD decodes P signals in the remaining N signals of the data output signal (S_data_out), and outputs the signals to control a power source of the single hard disks in the raid.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a power management system and method for an individual hard disk in a disk array, so as to individually control the power supply of the individual hard disk in the disk array. Background technique [0002] Generally speaking, the power supply of hard disks in a disk array (RAID) cannot be individually controlled. When an abnormal condition occurs on a single hard disk, it is often impossible to continue reading and writing data in the disk array because there is no reset function. [0003] If the power of the hard disk can be controlled separately, one of the advantages is that the number of hard disks can be controlled, thereby effectively improving the instantaneous excessive power consumption of the storage system. The second advantage is that when an abnormal condition occurs on a certain hard disk, the power of the hard disk can be effectively turned off and on again to achieve the reset function.
