The method comprises the following steps: measuring the mass percent of each oxide in sludge, clays and coal ash; calculating the feeding mass percent range of the sludge, the clays and the coal ash used in the ceramsite, and designing an orthogonal test of the ceramsite in the range; selecting a feeding matched ratio of the sludge, the clays and the coal ash which accord with a standard quality index in an orthogonal test product of the ceramsite as an actual production feeding ratio; calculating the content of chemical components of ternary or quaternary oxides in a mixture formed by the sludge, the clays and the coal ash from the orthogonal test matching ratio, and predicting the calcination temperature of the mixture by utilizing the ternary or quaternary phase diagram. According to the method, the proper feeding ratio and the calcination temperature can be designed according to the sludge, the clays and the coal ash in different batches.
