Embodiment Construction

[0021] figure 1 with figure 2 Shown is a steaming-off unit 10 having multiple components shown in the aforementioned '250 patent. figure 1 with figure 2 The illustrated evaporator unit 10 includes a housing or housing 16 having a generally cylindrical cross-section in which the removal of solvent from the vegetable meal is performed. The figure shows the meal pile or meal layer 40 on each stage used to remove the solvent in the entire housing 16.

[0022] The stage for solvent removal includes a plurality of vapor recovery (VR) trays 37a and 37b, 49a-49e and tray 59, collectively referred to as vapor recovery tray groups 37, 49, and 59, respectively. As the meal passes through the unit 10, the tray sets 37, 49, and 59 are all used to support the multi-layer meal pile 40.

[0023] The tray sets 37, 49, and 59 and the deck 90 are all hollow. The steam flows in and passes through the tray sets 37, 49, and 59 and the ply 90 to heat the meal pile 40 they hold, thereby evaporating t...

Abstract

A modified Distiller (DT) unit is used to remove hydrocarbon solvents from bulk vegetable oil particles. A conventional evaporator unit has a set of solvent removal trays in the housing and a main injector between a pair of trays that delivers solvent vapor from below the set of trays and vapors to the set of trays. The improved evaporator unit also has a sweep tray located between the main injector inlet and the shell deck. A sweep injector delivers solvent vapor from between the sweep tray and the shell deck into the space between the tray pack and the sweep tray before it exits the evaporator unit.

Description

[0001] Cross reference of related documents [0002] This is an international application filed on the basis of 35U.SC§363 and a sequence filed under 35U.SC§111(b) on April 26, 2011 according to 35U.SC§119(e)(1) Priority for provisional application No. 61 / 479,096. Background technique [0003] Extracting vegetable oil from oil seeds or oil cores such as soybeans, cottonseeds, mustard seeds and rapeseeds is a very important industrial production process. Usually, this process is carried out continuously on very large equipment, in which a single unit generally extracts many tons of vegetable oil a day. These oils are very valuable and can be used in many food and non-food applications. The pellets remaining after the vegetable oil is removed are also valuable and can be used as human food or animal feed. [0004] One type of extraction system first processes the oily part of the oilseed to form a large number of oily flakes or particles (meal). Subsequently, the meal is transporte...
