Abstract

The present invention relates to a display with a reduced driver circuit frame. An electronic device display may have a color filter layer, a thin film transistor layer, and a liquid crystal material layer. The display may have a display cover layer, such as a glass or plastic layer. Adhesives can be used to attach the upper polarizer to the display cover. The thin film transistor layer may have a substrate with opposing upper and lower surfaces. Thin film transistor circuits may be formed on the upper surface. The display driver integrated circuit can be mounted to the subsurface or a flexible printed circuit and can be coupled to the thin film transistor circuit using wire bonding wires. Vias formed through the thin film transistor layer substrate may be used to couple the thin film transistor circuitry to the display driver integrated circuit.
